Bacteria and Virus Sculptures on Glass by Luke Jerram |
Luke Jerram was born in Stroud, England was diagnosed with dichromatic colorblindness at an early age. He is unable to differentiate the colors. His ultimate goal was to explore the tension between a viruses’ devastating beauty and their devastating impact on humanity. With the help of University of Bristol virologist Andrew Davidson, glassblowers, Kim George, Brian Jones and Norman Veitch and inspiration from high-resolution electron microscopic images Luke Jerram started making Glass sculptures of viruses and bacteria such as HIV, E. coli, SARS, and H1N1 (Swine flu).
